True stories no one tells

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there was a handsome young lad who fell in love with a gorgeous girl. So he decided to ask her:

- Will you marry me?

- NO!!! - she said.

And he lived happily ever after. He went fishing, played soccer with colleagues, travelled a lot, visited many places and met many other girls. He was always in a good mood, always with a smile on his face. He never had problems with money and he could go out and have beer with his friends whenever he felt like doing so.

Why do people get married?

Beverly Clark: Why is it, do you think, that people get married?
Devine: Passion!
Beverly Clark: No.
Devine: That's interesting, because I would have taken you for romantic... Why, then?
Beverly Clark: Because we need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one's life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness'. - Susan Sarandon & Richard Jenkins, "Shall We Dance" (2004)

Too bad promisses are not always kept...
